Domaine Schoffit

is a French winery established in 1599.

Situated in the region of Alsace, it is located in the outskirts of Colmar, in a narrow country road, called Nonnenholzweg.

Alexandre Schoffitt, an intelligent young man of about thirty years, collaborates with his father Bernard cultivating the old and very precious Rangen de Thann and Sommerberg vineyards and vines with the utmost care.

Terroirs:
Rangen de Thann, the southermost of the Alsace vineyard, has one of the most unique and unequalled volcanic soils in France, composed of siliceous rock, lava base material and detritus from a granite terrain.

The philosopphy of the domaine is to continue the thirteenth century tradition handed down by the Clos of Saint Theobald’s meticulous monks'work and to have wines which clearly show what the vintage year has really been.

  • Gewurtztraminer: aromatic and highly expressive. Fullness, tension and perceptible bitterness (characteristic given by the terroir)
  • Pinot Gris: rich and concentred, full and soft with smoky notes.
  • Riesling: high precision, delicacy and tension accompanied by ubiquitous salinity.

Berries selected one by one. Subtle luminosity, complex nose of ripe fruit, apricots and honey. In the mouth explosion of almonds, ripe fruit and beeswax hints. Great cleanliness in acidity that balances the high sugar content, thanks to the noble molds. Longevity of 50 years.

It goes well with paté di foie gras
